“I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target, but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature’s way of fang and claw and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow.” – Fred Bear
Congratulation to Marty, our newest Buck Pines Member. His first year brought him the opportunity to take a deer while in a tree stand in the front swamp. Rumor has it that after shooting the deer he was found crying uncontrollably. Apparently he didn't know what to do next and was waiting for little Chet to come and help him.
Several members are now taking advantage of the crossbow. Chet, Joe and now Bobbie all have this weapon in their arsenal and are anxious to break them in... who will be next?
Well, it was a quiet opening day with only 1 deer taken. Richie was the 2020 buckmaster scoring a healthy 7-point buck with a clean shot. Several deer were seen by several other hunters throughout the day but were not taken. Either they were doe or just not large enough to take. A slow start to the season to be sure!!
As we grow this website we will list some of our clubs past events and some of our many successes from past hunting seasons
Every year in late April/early May we hold several weekends at camp where we open for the year, clean-up the trails and property and perform all work required in our forestry management plans. Everyone is asked to participate! Stay tuned for the 2021 dates as we will post them here sometime in early 2021.
